Preschool children are at an age when they are full of energy, creativity and vivid imagination. Those are the gifts and talents that need to be positively harnessed in an expressive way.
Rosary Preschool is aware of this need and dimension in the total formation of each child. Thus, the school has various organized activities to give the children a chance to identify, develop, and showcase their talents. Children perform in programs and school events in forms of songs, dances, and skits. These yearly events include the following:.
The month of October is very significant to the school, being put under the patronage of the Queen of the Holy Rosary. In this celebration, the students show their love for the Blessed Mother, through the yearly Floral Offering in the convent chapel. This is followed by the showcasing of the childrens' talents, and the playing of age-appropriate games.
As this yearly celebration is usually held before All Saints and All Souls days, the children are made to be aware of the importance of the saints and the necessity of remembering the poor souls in purgatory. Children are free to don various costumes and enjoy the whole day with each other.
On the celebration of the birth of Jesus, children perform on stage showcasing their choreography of different Christmas songs. The highlight of this celebration is the Nativity story. Children act in the parts of the Holy Family and other persons connected with the Nativity.
In this yearly celebration of Catholic Schools Week, parents and children are made aware of the importance of Catholic education and the role of Catholic schools in the shaping of society. The weeklong celebration includes different fun and learning activities held each day to raise students’ awareness.
Easter is a joyous occasion when the Resurrection of the Lord is commemorated. The children have much fun during the Easter Carnival as they partake in organized games and celebrate a hearty meal together. The joys of Easter are translated in the happy faces of the children as they enjoy the day with their parents and teachers.
May Day, or Lei Day, is a celebration of the Hawaiian culture, the spirit of aloha. People commonly celebrate by giving gifts of leis (garlands of flowers) to one another. Schools also put on plays and select a Lei Day Court of a King and Queen, Prince and Princesses representing the different islands.
Since Rosary Preschool is an institution of learning for 3 years old and those under the age of 6, the festive program and activities are tailored to their enjoyment.
The Program includes the selection of the King and Queen. The ceremony is patterned on the Hawaiian tradition of honoring their royalties. Students perform Hawaiian dances (the hula) and other musical selections. Hawaiian food is a specialty during this celebration.
To mark the End of the School Year, the school holds a final program that welcomes the participation of all of the children, their parents and teachers.
The activities include splash-fun, performances by all classes, and is highlighted by a potluck celebration where
parents and teachers bring food to be shared by all.
